A group of Armenian citizens led by Narine Mkrtchyan and Narine Dilbaryan carried out protests by the Russian embassy, where they presented a petition to the Russian ambassador.
Narine Mkrtchyan began to list the incidents tied to Russian soldiers beginning with Permyakov. She said that despite that shameful incident, Yerevan is repeating Moscow’s “don’t politicize” thesis. “The eternal friend stereotype has been adopted by both past and present authorities. Armenia puts its own interests lower than Moscow’s in international bodies. Armenia makes agreements with Russia where Moscow’s interests are once again upheld. Armenia’s positions are becoming vulnerable on an international scale, and people are treating Yerevan indifferently.”
The Armenian European and the Armenian Defense parties joined the protesters. The Armenian European party held up posters saying, “Russian army: get out of Armenia!”
