Commander of the Shushi special military battalion and co-founder of the Sasna Tsrer political party Jirair Sefilian believes that Azerbaijan bringing its positions forward in Nakhichevan is the start of a new operation. “Thanks to silent strategies used at the Artsakh front, Azerbaijan has moved its positions closer and closer every year. The same process has unfortunately begun in Nakhichevan,” Jirair Sefilian told reporters. According to him, the military leadership of Armenia has not adequately responded to that problem either in May or now.
“I am convinced that the enemy will continue with this process. Therefore, we need to pay attention and to be daring. We need to stop the enemy through taking preventative measures, especially in sections where they have the ability to guard roads,” Sefilian noted.
Then, he said not to create a tragedy out of what happened in Nakhichevan. “We can make changes quickly and without casualties. There simply needs to be a demonstration of political will. We hope that the new authorities will demonstrate this.”
