Head of Byurakan Observatory: ‘Azerbaijan has 3 satellites, Armenia also wants some’

December 26,2018 17:44

Head of the Byurakan Observatory Areg Mikayelyan said that any sector in society is advancing today because of research of the universe. “Since other professionals have not visited our country in connection to studies of the universe, astronomers have a very important role here. I am also playing an active role in establishing new projects with the government. There is a great desire for Armenia to have its own satellites. That will cost a lot of money, but we will greatly benefit from it,” Mikayelyan said.

“In the end, all the information provided by satellites will be more expensive to purchase from other countries than it would be if we had our own. If we have just one satellite, Armenia will have an even more important place on the map, which will promote all other activities,” Areg Mikayelyan said.

He said that Azerbaijan has 3 satellites, which, although they do not have the power as of yet to make serious observations, they are going in that direction, and Armenia should not be left behind.
