After the most recent government session, Acting Minister of Diaspora Mkhitar Hayrapetyan spoke to reporters about the dissolvement of the ministry. “It became clear one week ago that the number of ministries will go from 17 to 12. The Ministry of Diaspora will dissolve. We have worries about this because it is not clear which structure will take on the functions of the ministry. So, we have voiced these fears to members of our political team.”
Hayrapetyan did not exclude the possibility of the ministry’s functions being given to another structure. “I can’t say now which structure it will be passed on to since other ministries have to voice their opinions which need to be summarized during a government session. Discussions will continue until the new parliament is formed. We imagine that there will be a department where the current workers at the ministry will work. Changes in the working structure have not been discussed.”
