During the latest conscription, everyone’s attention is focused on the adherence to safety laws in the transportation of new soldiers. Chief of Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces Artak Davtyan spoke about this with reporters. When asked about the state of accidents in the army, Davtyan said, “I advise you to watch Shamshyan’s reports every day to see the situation on the roads, as well as accidents, and then compare it to registered accidents in the army… Of course, we follow up with every tragic accident.”

Regarding the latest tragic accident during which four soldiers died when a Ministry of Defense truck crashed in November, Artak Davtyan said that legal regulation has gotten stricter since then. “Particularly, the regime for testing and preparing drivers has gotten stricter, and tough demands have been made to the military bases so that such problems can be avoided.”

According to Artak Davtyan, two thousand new vehicles have been provided to the Ministry of Defense. “At the same time, old vehicles are being removed from production, and the process is continuing.” According to the Chief of Staff, no one can exclude the possibility of new soldiers driving flawed vehicles, since even new vehicles can have problems. “We are working to avoid such situations in any case, especially if contract soldiers are the ones driving.”
