The Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction is holding discussions on making second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan eligible for bail. Kocharyan’s lawyer Hayk Alumyan told reporters, “We think that Robert Kocharyan should not have been detained, but since we appealed to the Court of Cassation and we don’t know when the court will give this problem a solution, we appealed to the First Instance Court to allow bail until these issues are resolved by the Court of Cassation.”
It is known that Kocharyan’s lawyers have appealed to the Constitutional Courts. According to Alumyan, appeals are made to the Constitutional Court when the law violates the Constitution. He said that if the Constitutional Court finds that Kocharyan’s lawyers are right, then the decision made by the Court of Cassation satisfying appeals made by the Prosecutor General needs to be reviewed.
