Artur Vanetsyan: ‘No one has ever adopted a child from Armenia and sold their organs’

January 10,2019 15:00

During a discussion about child adoption during the most recent government session, acting Deputy Prime Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said that there have been cases people who have adopted Armenian children for the purpose of selling their organs.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan asked what he was referring to. Ararat Mirzoyan responded that sometimes, people from different countries adopt children who do not have parents. Then, they remove the kidneys or other organs from those children. Mirzoyan said, “This happens everywhere, not just in Armenia.”

Nikol Pashinyan asked whether or not such instances have been recorded. The head of the National Security Service, Artur Vanetsyan, interrupted their discussion. He said that the NSS has never received information about the cases that Ararat Mirzoyan was referring to, and the process is always under their guardianship. “No one has ever adopted a child from Armenia and then sold their organs. The process is under strict maintenance, and we have all the information necessary.”
