“We have always spoken about the necessity of changes in the constitution. We have come across constitutional barriers and deadlocks, which need to be eliminated,” Acting Deputy Prime Minister Ararat Mirzoyan told reporters.
He also spoke in reference to opinions that some structures continue to remain under the authority of the Prime Minister, and the “Supreme Prime Minister” model has been retained.
“I think that the National Security Service needs to remain under the Prime Minister’s authority, but we still can hold discussions regarding the police. There are different questions. We are not only speaking about subordination, but also the transparency of the work of those structures. Perhaps there will be some partial solutions. For example, the police can come to the National Assembly and present reports, since we often complain about how we don’t see police officials in parliament.”
