“We demand that Manvel Grigoryan be arrested immediately!” cried protesters in Ejmiatsin.
A car procession, and then a walking procession took place in Ejmiatsin. Citizens protesting against Manvel Grigoryan went to Yerevan by car, where Manvel Grigoryan’s trial is to take place.
Participants in the protests asked all citizens to go to Yerevan at 4 PM, regardless of their place of residence, since Manvel Grigoryan is a problem for everyone. “We demand that the deterrence method used against Manvel Grigoryan change. We demand to know what article they will charge him based off of, which will become clear during the court trial.”
When asked what problem Manvel Grigoryan poses through being free, one of the protesters responded, “First, the issue here has to do with mindset. This person kept the entire city under a dictatorship, and people with honor won’t allow him to be free. Someone like him poses a threat to society. He is a dangerous person and we don’t have the right to allow him to be free.”
Protesters assured that they will use force to make sure that Manvel Grigoryan is once again arrested. They fear for the safety of their wives and children.
Ejmiatsin resident Artak Margaryan said that there is currently an atmosphere of fear in the city, which they will get rid of today. Margaryan also said that the people protesting were not necessarily personally affected by Manvel Grigoryan. Those who were are not protesting out of fear.
