January 12,2019 13:52

A group of residents of Ejmiatsin are continuing protests that began on January 11th against the release of Manvel Grigoryan. They initially closed the road to the Zvartnots International Airport, and then they announced that they would like to have a car procession. The police guarding the protests did not allow for them to do so, announcing that, according to information the police had received, the protesters wished to close roads during the car procession, which had not been previously approved.

One of the organizers of the protest, Jivan Abrahamyan, called Mayor of Ejmiatsin Diana Gasparyan, and informed her of the car procession. The car procession is continuing throughout Ejmiatsin, and protesters are carrying signs.

Manvel Grigoryan is accused of possession of illegal weapons and of stealing large amounts of property. An appeal was filed against his release, but it has not been investigated yet.
