“Yes, several deputies come to parliament in their cars, and some do not. Some deputies work in three-room offices, and some do not. I have already had the opportunity to speak about this within our faction, and I said that I support standardization. Perhaps we will soon have an initiative where it will be written that, for example, a parliamentary deputy must have an office that is 8 square meters, and the head of the faction should have a room this large. If one person can have a room to relax in, then everyone else should have one, too,” the newly-elected Speaker of the National Assembly, Ararat Mirzoyan, told reporters.
He also sees a need for rules to be established regarding the presence of deputies. Particularly, regarding the issue of Prosperous Armenia head Gagik Tsarukyan’s absences, Ararat Mirzoyan said, “Deputies aren’t my coworkers. This is a different structure. People voted for deputies. And deputies need to show respect for this institution and for those votes. All deputies must be present as stated by the law.” Otherwise, according to him, absences must be respected.
Ararat Mirzoyan assured that he is not looking to change service vehicles, but offices will be renovated. He believes that all deputies’ offices should be renovated, not just for aesthetic, but instead for technical problems.
