Newly-elected Speaker of the National Assembly Ararat Mirzoyan does not think that all member states of the European Union will ratify the Armenia-EU agreement in 2019. Responding to a reporter’s question in parliament, Ararat Mirzoyan said, “Perhaps it is not so realistic to say that all member states of the EU will ratify the agreement this year, but it is also possible through making a lot of effort and through working well.”
He connects the delays in the ratification of the agreement to recent events in Armenia. “The parliament is just now taking on authority and there are new people. We need time. If the 6th National Assembly continued its work, then these works would have went forth more smoothly.”
Vice President of the Republican Party Armen Ashotyan made a post on his Facebook page earlier, voicing his worries about how, if things go as they have been, the member states of the EU will not ratify the Armenia-EU agreement in 2019.
