Deputy of the Bright Armenia party Mane Tandilyan does not share reporters’ view that Bright Armenia is the favored party of My Step. Responding to a reporter’s question of why she thinks that My Step did not support her candidacy for Vice Speaker, Mane Tandilyan said, “Everyone knows that we have differing positions on different issues. And Bright Armenia cannot be the favored party in any case, because we have our own opinions and positions on different issues. Therefore, I don’t want my colleagues to package our approach. I tried to use my speech to bring them to a point where they could boldly voice their motivations for voting. We saw once again that responsibility became more difficult for the people. The people chose My Step, and we have to make decisions based on that. Therefore, their vote is reflected in their choices.”
The members of My Step said that they do not support the Bright Armenia candidate for Vice Speaker, since Prosperous Armenia received more votes from the people, and My Step does not wish to be accused of having a favored opposition party.
Regarding comparisons that My Step is repeating the Republican Party’s tactic of forcing members to vote unanimously in favor of someone, Mane Tandilyan said, “I said in my speech that we may not have the possibility of such elections anymore. They did not vote for their own candidate. They were voting for another one. Therefore, this is one of the few cases where they could not have carried out decisions made by their party. The source of this decision remains debatable for me.”
