Deputy from Prosperous Armenia Gevorg Petrosyan, during his speech in parliament, said that he has come across the problem of foreigners wanting to adopt Armenian children when he was a minister, despite receiving warnings that this is a difficult issue. “Two billionaire Belgians came to adopt a child with mental health problems. Isn’t it obvious why they want to adopt the child? There are doubts that they want to use the child’s organs for other purposes.” According to him, laws regarding foreign citizens adopting children need to be much stricter, making the process almost impossible.
There was also a discussion about the law on domestic violence, as well as the positions of Prosperous Armenia deputies who were against it. Gevorg Petrosyan said that he was one of the biggest opponents of that law, but he was against it to avoid violence in the family, since the government should not intervene in familial issues. In many cases, according to him, the government has negatively affected peace in families.
