“It’s obvious that structures of force need to be brought under the control of parliament,” Secretary of Bright Armenia Gevorg Gorgisyan told reporters, saying that Robert Kocharyan took those structures out of the government and brought them under his control so that when coalitions were formed, those structures would not become a subject for bargaining. In the future, according to Gorgisyan, the structures were automatically brought under the control of the Prime Minister when the country’s leaders changed from being the President to the Prime Minister, so that Serzh Sargsyan would have no problems. “But, through not being a part of government, the leaders of those structures do not have to come to parliament, and they remain out of control,” Gorgisyan said.
Spokeswoman of the party Ani Samsonyan added that the guardianship of different institutions should not be left under the hope that the government will have good will. “What was not allowed of the Republican Party and Serzh Sargsyan should not be allowed of My Step and Nikol Pashinyan. The institutions need to work.”
Gevorg Gorgisyan reminded reporters that Ararat Mirzoyan was under the impression that structures of force should not be under the Prime Minister’s control one year ago, because they could be used for political purposes. He dismissed authorities who believe that these structures will be politicized when they come under the control of the government through claiming that they don’t. He used the Armenian Armed Forces as an example.
