Sculptor Levon Tokmajyan said during a press conference that there is a high level of poverty, and added, “Perhaps the authority belongs to the people now, but daycares are being robbed and officials are rewarding themselves for their own personal businesses. But it’s alright since it’s a new government and new authorities. But this all means that we have made mistakes in professional policies, and this means that the people elected to positions are a disgrace to the government. They’re the ones who bring down the government’s ratings. And then the political party leader says ‘everything’s fine.’”
According to Tokmajyan, the only achievement is that the people are informed of anything illegal. The sculptor added that it isn’t mandatory for the Minister of Culture to be from the cultural sector, for example Kamo Udumyan, but they should at least be close to the sector, and should uphold ties with people in the arts and culture.
Levon Tokmajyan considers the Ministers of Culture appointed after Kamo Udumyan to be inglorious. He is not against the optimization of the ministry. “I agree that the Ministry of Culture should become an administrative department. But it needs to work well. Let there be 7-10 people, but let them know what they’re doing. I can say the same thing for the Ministry of Diaspora.”
