The Presidents’ Davos surprise and the Artsakh issue

January 23,2019 18:45

According to the head of the Armenian Institute for International and Security Affairs Stepan Safaryan, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan likely discussed the results of their foreign ministers’ meeting. “I cannot say what details the leaders made agreements on, but it is obvious that the Armenian Prime Minister and the Azeri President agreed upon at least several issues that the foreign ministers also agreed upon.”

Stepan Safaryan is convinced of one thing: the new Armenian authorities must not allow themselves to falsify the conflict nor the entire negotiations process, which has happened in the past.

He also said that if Armenia has not heard any worries coming from Artsakh, it means that there is no reason to worry, since Armenia’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs meet with their colleagues in Artsakh before and after every meeting with Azerbaijan.
