The Ministry of Health has set aside 210 million AMD for the Medical Assistance Services for Supportive Technologies in Infertile Couples plan this year instead of 50 million AMD, which was previously the plan. Minister of Health Arsen Torosyan spoke to reporters about this.
“We will be having meetings this week to decide how that 210 million AMD will be spent. However, I must say that the majority seems to side with it helping infertile couples figure out the reasons for infertility, and for purchasing in vitro fertilization treatments. It has been proven that it’s more effective to find out the reasons for the problem and then spending money to solve the problem. This will be less expensive and we will be able to help more people this way, instead of simply paying for a few couples to get IVF treatments. But both will take place,” Torosyan said.
