It is not right to discuss details entire conversation with Aliyev: Nikol Pashinyan

January 25,2019 22:09

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s visit to the Eurasian Economic Commission headquarters intrigued not only Armenian news outlets, but Russian and international ones as well. Over 80 journalists covered the visit.

Nikol Pashinyan held a speech about how the leadership of the EAEU in 2019 will be passed on from Russia to Armenia. He expressed his readiness to ensure that Armenia continues the positive dynamics of integration, which will help member states to develop their economies.

After his speech, a reporter asked Pashinyan if he thought it was the correct decision made by the former authorities for Armenia to join the EAEU. The Prime Minister said that back then, as a deputy, he had voted against the decision, but he does not find it correct to make any drastic moves now.

Reporters also did not avoid asking about the meeting Nikol Pashinyan had with Azeri President Ilham Aliyev in Davos. Pashinyan said, “I understand that reporters and citizens want to know all the details of our conversation, but I do not think that it would be right from an ethical standpoint for me to come out and talk about all the details. However, you are aware of the overall nature of our conversation.”

The Prime Minister assured that there were no results recorded from that meeting, which is what he and Aliyev expected. The meeting was of an informal nature, but some sensitive details of the conflict were discussed that the Prime Minister had spoken about many times in his speeches, including the fact that he is only able to represent the Republic of Armenia and not Artsakh since Artsakh’s citizens do not participate in Armenia’s elections, and therefore, did not elect him.
