‘You are distorting reality’: EU ambassador regarding providing Armenia least financial assistance

January 27,2019 16:33

Aravot asked EU ambassador to Armenia Piotr Switalski why Armenia is receiving the least financial assistance out of the six Eastern Partnership nations that the European Union, along with the World Bank, will be financing to carry out structural changes. The EU is planning to spend approximately 13 billion euros until 2030 on the six Eastern Partnership nations.

The Union of Informed Citizens used a document published by the EU to prove that Armenia will be receiving 732 million euros within the framework of the program, Azerbaijan will receive 2.078 billion euros, Belarus will receive 1.248 billion euros, Georgia will receive 3.417 billion euros, Moldova will receive 917 million euros, and Ukraine will receive 4.453 billion euros.

According to the Union of Informed Citizens, not only are the programs that will be carried out in Armenia smaller, but they are also less diverse.

Piotr Świtalski responded, “You are distorting reality. If we are to take into consideration the amount of support that will be received at one time, the Republic of Armenia is in first place. This year, the support provided to Armenia will increase again.”
