According to Chief Military Inspector, Artsakh army not involved in March 1st events

Chief Military Inspector of Armenia and former Armed Forces Chief of Staff Movses Hakobyan did not answer a question asked by reporters regarding whether or not he found the Ministry of Defense’s Order 0038 on March 1, 2008 legal. “I am a soldier,” Hakobyan simply said.

He also did not respond to questions regarding how second President Robert Kocharyan, former Minister of Defense Mikayel Harutyunyan, and former Deputy Minister Yuri Khachaturov were accused of violating the Armenian Constitution.

“I do not know much about legalities. I was the Minister of Defense of Artsakh at the time,” Movses Hakobyan said.

Reporters asked if the army of Artsakh was involved in the events of March 1st. Movses Hakobyan responded, “No, the army of Artsakh was not involved.”

Mass protests were held in Armenia after the presidential elections in 2008. The protests were organized by the supporters of the first President of the Republic of Armenia Levon Ter-Petrosian. During the protest held on March 1, 2008, clashes broke out between police and protesters. President Robert Kocharyan declared a 20-day state of emergency.
