“The new structure of the government is up to the Prime Minister and the government. The Prime Minister believes that the government needs to be more effective. If they ask me for advice, I will give it,” President of Armenia Armen Sarkissian told reporters regarding the optimization of the government. He noted that he has personal opinions about that issue, but something else is clear. “The solution will not simply be in its structure, but in its essence. We need to realize that, for example, the army will need more expensive technology, some of which we will have the opportunity to produce. I am not only speaking about not having to buy weapons from other countries, but also about selling weapons. We need to learn from the best. This is possible.”
Then, the President emphasized the importance of developing the military industry. Commenting on opinions that world superpowers will get in the way of Armenia having an effective military industry, Armen Sarkissian said, “I don’t think that superpowers will impose problems that will cause Armenia to not be able to produce technology. That is the wrong approach. That is not the case. If we have any valuable ideas, I assure you that world superpowers will purchase them from us, not ban them.”
