European Commissioner Johannes Hahn was not able to go into detail about when formal negotiations to establish a visa-free regime between Armenia and the EU will begin. During an interview with reporters, he said, “There is no date. We need to discuss the case with member states. I believe that these negotiations will not take place until after the European parliament elections (these are to take place in 2019).” Hahn emphasized that the European Commission views this prospect very positively.
