‘Formerly young Nikol Vovayevich, when did you agree to have such meetings with Aliyev?’ Zaruhi Postanjyan

“Armenia is continuing the faulty traditions of the former authorities regarding the Artsakh issue. Pashinyan tried to come up with an excuse for his surprise meeting on a Facebook live stream, saying that he could not tell the public about that meeting at once. This shows that he was waiting for people’s responses, after which he would attempt to come up with excuses,” head of the Yerkir Tsirani party and former deputy Zaruhi Postanjyan told reporters regarding the informal meeting between Nikol Pashinyan and Ilham Aliyev in Davos. According to her, this style shows that there are secret negotiations and agreements taking place.

“In 2011, Serzh Sargsyan met with Ilham Aliyev in Kazan, and it was not written in the official notice for that meeting that Sargsyan was prepared to give up territory. He spoke about that later on in an interview with Bloomberg. The same is happening currently with Nikol Pashinyan. He has agreements to meet with Ilham Aliyev on several platforms, if the opportunity comes up during different events, and we only become aware of it after the fact,” Zaruhi Postanjyan said.

Then she said, “This is a shady process… When did the formerly young Nikol Pashinyan get to decide upon such a thing? He gets angry when he is referred to as “young one,” that’s why I’ll say, formerly young Nikol Vovayevich, when did you agree to have such meetings with Aliyev, and why didn’t you inform the public about that? Pashinyan spoke with an enemy state for an hour and a half about negotiations, when in the meantime he was crying about how he knew what people were negotiating in the past.”

Nikol Pashinyan had told reporters that the “land in exchange for peace” formula cannot become a topic for negotiation, but Zaruhi Postanjyan is not convinced.
