Head of the Council of Architects Mkrtich Minasyan believes that the areas around the Yerevan Opera and the Circular Park are too overcrowded. “The municipality made the right decision. It is good that those areas have been disassembled and that dismantling has begun. Arthur Meschian’s main goal is for those areas to look more civilized than an eastern market, just like in more civilized countries. There can be a few cafes, but not so many that it starts to look like a market, all with different designs and styles. There are cafes in those areas made out of concrete and steel- the main materials that are not allowed in such areas. I think that Arthur Meschian and the Yerevan municipality have made the right decision.”
When asked if this decision may have a negative impact on the business environment, Minasyan said, “That was no place for having a business environment.”
