“The situation in Artsakh and the security of Artsakh are the biggest priority for Armenia. Armenia has its participation, and Armenia is the guarantor of security in Artsakh. Armenia is participating in the negotiations process,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokeswoman Anna Naghdalyan told reporters.
She noted that increasing the effectiveness of negotiations is important in promoting an atmosphere of peace, as well as creating an environment for strengthening trust and security, which will help to exclude the possibility of an escalation of conflict. It will also help to decrease the possibility of risks and aggressive rhetoric.
When asked what fundamentals Armenia uses to participate in meetings, and whether those fundamentals changed after the Prime Minister’s latest meeting, Anna Naghdalyan replied, “From the very first day, we have firmly believed in the fundamental that the situation in Artsakh and its security are of utmost importance for us. Artsakh needs to have a voice and involvement in the resolution process. This is the fundamental approach that we have presented to both the co-chairs and to the Azeri side.”
