“The leaders of the CSTO member states are wise and experienced. They will make the right decision,” Chief of the CSTO Joint Staff, Colonel-General Anatoly Sidorov regarding the election of a new Secretary General of the CSTO.
The position has been vacant since last year when Armenia recalled its representative Yuri Khachaturov. Belarus was likely to have a candidate for the position. However, the issue has not been resolved yet. Armenia’s representative was to remain the Secretary-General until 2020. Now, people doubt whether or not Armenia will nominate a new candidate to the position.
The Colonel-General said that the structure he is in charge of is a working one that is prepared to carry out any decisions made by the executive body of the CSTO.
