‘If retired woman does not take receipt upon buying 1 kg sugar, her pension will not increase’: Nikol Pashinyan

February 12,2019 22:06

Prosperous Armenia deputy Tigran Urikhanyan told Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan about the worries of teachers and retirees regarding when their salaries and pensions will increase. Regarding teachers’ salaries, Nikol Pashinyan noted that there are teachers who receive a 30,000 AMD salary when the state budget has set aside 120,000 AMD for them. “But the teacher receives 30,000 AMD because several teachers work in that position,” Nikol Pashinyan said, and added that the government’s duty, in this case, is to secure the effective distribution of professionals. “There are 12,000 extra jobs in the education sector alone.”

The Prime Minister also noted that 220,000 people’s salaries will rise this year. Besides that, the number of people making use of government programs in medical centers rose by 250,000. “Cancerous tumors will be operated on free of charge.”

Regarding the overall increase in salaries, Nikol Pashinyan emphasized, “Six million AMD is needed in order to raise salaries by 1,000 AMD. Where will we get that from? This six million is available somewhere, but the state can cut this in order to raise pensions. And a retired woman’s pension will not increase if she does not take a receipt when she buys 1 kilogram of sugar.”
