February 14,2019 17:32

A group of students are protesting against Yerevan State University Rector Aram Simonyan. They are chanting, “YSU without Aram,” “Leave, Aram,” “Free and independent students,” and are carrying posters with similar quotes on them. The students are demanding that the Board of Trustees fires Simonyan.

One of the students announced on the megaphone that they created a new movement: “100th anniversary without Aram Simonyan.” “The Board of Trustees must call an extraordinary session and declare Aram Simonyan untrustworthy, due to the fact that he has worked against the students for many years and the latest discoveries prove that. He misused 800 million AMD,” the student said over the megaphone.

The State Control Service of Armenia, after investigating Yerevan State University in December, found that 800 million AMD was misused. The director of the university then held an emergency press conference, declaring that the SCS is an unprofessional structure.
