On 19 February, Armenian water and health experts and policy makers met in the country’s capital of Yerevan to discuss the results of a baseline analysis for setting national targets under the UNECE/WHO Europe Protocol on Water and Health and equitable access to water supply and sanitation.
The meeting was hosted by the Water Resources Management Agency of the Ministry of Nature Protection of Armenia, the Ministry of Health and the Water Committee of the Ministry of Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources. It was organised under the European Union Water Initiative Plus for the Eastern Partnership (EUWI+) programme.
The aim of the meeting was also to discuss the priorities and draft national targets derived from the baseline analysis in support of the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The participants also reviewed the implementation of the 2018-2020 Action Plan on equitable access to water supply and sanitation in Armenia, including legislative barriers and legal amendments needed to ensure fair and equal access to water supply and sanitation in the country.
