On 27-28 February, emergency response and civil protection authorities and experts are gathering in the Armenian capital of Yerevan to discuss the results of the EU-funded Programme for Prevention, Preparedness and Response to Natural and Man-made Disasters in the Eastern Partnership Countries (PPRD East 2), the second phase of which will conclude in May 2019.
The event has been organised in cooperation with the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Armenia. The participants are also to discuss national follow-up activities after the programme is concluded to ensure the sustainability of its results and the networks that have been created.
The PPRD East 2 programme is an EU-funded flagship initiative that aims to increase the disaster risk management capacities of the Eastern Partner countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine), thus improving the level of protection they can offer their populations from the negative consequences of man-made threats and natural disasters.
