1 protestor and 1 police officer injured

One of the police officers keeping public order during the protests by the National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet against the destruction of nearby cafes was injured. The press service of the police informed Aravot Daily that the officer had hit his head and gotten injured against the metal construction of one of the cafes being destroyed. “He was taken to the hospital, and he is in a normal condition.”

One woman was also injured. The head of the Emergency Service CJSC, Taguhi Stepanyan, informed Aravot Daily that a woman fell and hurt her back at the Saryan 2 address. “The injury is not serious. She is in the hospital.” Stepanyan said that there is no clear information available about whether or not the woman was a protester. It is only known that the woman was a worker at a cafe at that address.

The Municipality of Yerevan has made a decision to destroy the cafes by the Opera. Workers have come out in protest against this decision.
