The destruction of cafes near the Opera in Yerevan continues. The work to tear down the Jazzve cafe was left unfinished.
The Municipality of Yerevan has turned to the Shokoladnitsa cafe. There are no protests, but the workers at Shokoladnitsa were shouting, “Don’t tear it down! Don’t leave us without work!”
One of the co-owners of Jazzve called upon people to end the protests. The head of the Kentron district, Viktor Mnatsakanyan, said that these activities are to take place for approximately ten days.
Mnatsakanyan also said that the cafes near Swan Lake also need to be demolished. But after the cafes are demolished, they will begin works to create parks.
The Atmosphera cafe was also partly demolished, and works continue. The owner of the cafe, Elizabeth Ghazaryan, told reporters that the fountains in front of the cafe were worth 25 thousand dollars, and she demands compensation for their destruction. Viktor Mnatsakanyan said that the law does not state that they need to compensate for illegal construction.
