‘The Prime Minister has issued a challenge to Baku’: My Step deputy Tatev Hayrapetyan

March 17,2019 17:28

“During the joint Security Council meeting in Artsakh, the Prime Minister issued a challenge to Baku. He was referring to the issue of preparing for peace. Societies need to start talking to one another. Aliyev is known for his calls for hatred, and he might find himself in a difficult situation, since Armenia has never encouraged hatred on a state level, which gives us the opportunity to talk about peace,” My Step alliance deputy and Azeri studies expert Tatev Hayrapetyan told reporters regarding the recent joint Security Council meetings of Armenia and Artsakh.

“It is another issue that we will never agree to peace under Azerbaijan’s conditions. Azerbaijan does not include discussions in its preparations for peace,” Hayrapetyan said. Regarding the latest controversial announcement by the OSCE Minsk Group (that that is not addressable and might cause problems for Armenia), Tatev Hayrapetyan noted, “The co-chairs are not sides in the conflict and they simply play the role of mediators. In my opinion, it was not controversial that the Minsk Group’s announcement demanding that the sides avoid any actions that might cause instability took place before the military trainings held in Azerbaijan. Let’s not use any statements in a defeatist context.”
