Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan spoke to reporters about his recent visit to Brussels, and explained the projects he discussed with the European Union, as well as what the EU is prepared to do for Armenia. “Those projects include infrastructure, such as the development of roads, changes in the police structure, the energy system, changes in the education system, tax administration, and the construction of reservoirs. We plan to construct approximately two dozen reservoirs,” Nikol Pashinyan informed
According to him, the EU reported that it is completely willing to work together with Armenia to make these changes. “But there is one thing to note. The EU said that it is completely ready to help with all of those projects, but it is understandable that it will not be financing them completely. Therefore, Armenia also needs to make some investments. The only obstacle is some limitations included in the law on national debts. The national debt cannot exceed a certain percentage of the GDP. The EU says that it is prepared to give a grant with the expectation that Armenia will have its investment. The most visible sources of Armenia’s investments are external sources, which, however, will increase Armenia’s national debt. Now we are discussing the problem. We will also hold a meeting with the Central Bank so we can make a decision.”
