The Ministry of Territorial Administration and Development initiated a program where the governors would organize business forums with the intention of carrying out investments in the regions of Armenia. Minister of Territorial Administration and Development Suren Papikyan spoke to reporters about this. The first business forum was in the Lori region. “We had a very interesting business forum that business owners of Armenian and foreign descent from all over the world attended. They all intended to make investments in Lori. They presented over 50 investment plans for different sectors. Those are presented on several platforms in this phase. One of our banks also expressed its readiness to conduct research and make economic counts in order to make these projects more effective. Tourism, industry, and agriculture were some of the sectors that were discussed.”
Papikyan assured that there is also a massive investment plan, but it is not clear yet whether or not that will be in the Lori region. “This plan requires 30-40 hectares of land that will be close to the main highways, and that will not have any problems with gas, electricity, and large amounts of water. Unfortunately, Armenia has problems with infrastructure. But our government believes that we need to be prepared to provide business owners with all of that, regardless of how much it costs, in order for these plans to be carried out. This will provide thousands of jobs.”
According to the minister, the amount of people who have expressed willingness to invest in Armenia shows that 2019 will be a transitional and important phase in the economic revolution.
