‘Any failure will not only fall back on Nikol Pashinyan, but on Armenia and Artsakh too’

March 27,2019 18:37

Vice President of the Republican Party Armen Ashotyan spoke to Aravot Daily about the upcoming Pashinyan-Aliyev meeting. He said that it is important for the Armenian authorities to understand that the Artsakh conflict is a state and national issue. “They should have been able to create a political consensus surrounding this issue- which, unfortunately, does not exist now- and do something like I suggested, which was to invite the National Assembly to public hearings in the political sector. They should have listened to the opinions of all political parties, including the RPA, and strengthen their own positions based off of that. Anyways, Nikol Pashinyan holds responsibility here, and this is the kind of issue that no one has any bad wishes about, due to the fact that any failure will not only fall back on Nikol Pashinyan, but on Armenia and Artsakh, too.”

“I am willing to set aside all political disagreements, political persecution, and all signs of a democratic crisis in Armenia and work in favor of resolving the Artsakh issue. I will also critique the current authorities in a public political discourse.”
