“I consider it to be nearly impossible for Artsakh to return to the negotiations table right now because Azerbaijan will not negotiate with a country that it has referred to as a separatist and terrorist state for the past thirty years. We will not succeed in that aspect in the near future,” International studies expert Suren Sargsyan said to reporters regarding the meeting between Pashinyan and Aliyev.
Regarding the OSCE Minsk Group’s statement, Suren Sargsyan does not believe in the process of preparing for peace because anything can be agreed upon other than the Artsakh situation. “Our approach and Azerbaijan’s approach completely contradict each other and we can’t change anything about that. Perhaps our society is preparing for peace, but the situation in Azerbaijan is different.”
According to Sargsyan, the situation in Baku is different after Aliyev’s return. “Anti-Armenian propaganda has started again, as well as calls for land to be returned to them and preparation for war.”
