“Why did the April War take place? Many are trying to analyze this question, many are trying to take advantage of it, and many are trying to insert their inner political agendas in order to criticize the former authorities. The answer is actually something clearer: the April War happened because Azerbaijan never got what it wanted in the negotiations process. It always lost,” Vice President of the Republican Party Armen Ashotyan told reporters at the Yerablur Military Pantheon.
According to Ashotyan, Azerbaijan, feeling discouraged by the negotiations process, tried to resolve the issue through military means in order to change the status quo. “This is where we saw the heroism of our soldiers. They prevented the possibility of this conflict being resolved through force, which is what Azerbaijan was preparing for all these years.”
