“A meeting is a meeting, even if it’s bad. It helps us to decrease the possibility of war,” Hero of Artsakh, General-Major Arkady Ter-Tadevosyan (Commandos) told Aravot Daily regarding the meeting between Nikol Pashinyan and Ilham Aliyev that was held at the end of March.
Ter-Tadevosyan disagreed with the statement made by former Commander of the Artsakh Defense Army Levon Mnatsakanyan, in which he said, “There will be a war, and the way to solve the Artsakh conflict will be through military actions.” “I do not think that there can be a war because it is not only two nations that are involved in this conflict. There are other nations besides Armenia and Azerbaijan that have their involvement. But Aliyev has to say something to his people. He has to say that he’s going to war. Everyone knows what is happening in the wealthy Aliyev’s Azerbaijan, what condition the native population is in, and what condition the freedom of the press is in. Besides that, Azerbaijan is the younger brother of Turkey, which encouraged the military operations of April 2016 because the relations between Turkey and Russia were strained at the time. Now it seems like there are no issues on that front.”
Commandos believes that the Armenian Army has strong foundations, a high level of preparedness, and a strong military spirit. “Taking into consideration the situation within the Azeri army, I can say that that country cannot reach the level which it needs to in order to fight against us.”
