‘If Serzh Sargsyan has not been accused of any crime, why did the revolution take place?’: Pashinyan answers Facebook user’s question

April 21,2019 14:37

“If Serzh Sargsyan has not been accused of any crime yet, nor is he a criminal, then why did the revolution take place?” Facebook user Davit Tonoyan asked Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in a comment.

According to Pashinyan, it is wrong to ask why a specific person has not been arrested yet. The Prime Minister said that dozens of cases have been filed regarding corruption, and at the moment, General Manvel Grigoryan and Robert Kocharyan are in custody, and the former Minister of Nature Protection is being investigated. Mihran Poghosyan and others are also being investigated.

Pashinyan said that for him, the fundamentals remain the same: no one will have any privileges, and everyone is equal according to the law. “But there is another context within this question, regardless of whether or not Serzh Sargsyan is accused of something. I think that the subcontext of this question is that we have some sort of secret agreement with Serzh Sargsyan. I cannot be included in such games, let me make that clear. I can’t say whether or not Serzh Sargsyan will be accused of anything, but I can guarantee that if he is, there will be no political obstacles in the way.”
