“One lie that Pashinyan told is that there are no political prisoners or political revenge in Armenia,” Vice President of the Republican Party of Armenia Armen Ashotyan said during a Facebook livestream about Nikol Pashinyan’s Facebook livestream. “Robert Kocharyan’s case is proof that there is a politician who is being tried for political reasons. There are also others. I believe that Robert Kocharyan is a political prisoner. Therefore, speaking about political solidarity is yet another form of manipulation used by Pashinyan,” Armen Ashotyan said.
During a live video on Facebook, Ashotyan pointed out that the other big lie Pashinyan told was the promise that there would not be huge changes in Armenian foreign policy. “He says that Armenia has improved its relations with the USA, the EU, and with Russia. Let me remind you of what he said about the EU. When he went to Brussels, he held a press conference at the airport and started to say bad things about Europeans, such as that they are not satisfying his expectations and that they are not funding the regime change in Armenia. How have we improved our relations with the EU when Pashinyan himself is not satisfied with the EU?”
Regarding relations with Russia, Ashotyan said, “Pashinyan claims that he improved relations with the Russians. When he went to Russia to take on the position of chair of the Eurasian Economic Union conference, he said that he hadn’t even been invited to Russia for an official visit. So you have been the Prime Minister for a year, but Armenia’s biggest ally and strategic partner has not invited you for an official visit. My vast experience in the diplomacy and international relations sector tells me that it’s impossible to have improved relations with a country in such conditions.”
And finally, regarding the USA, Ashotyan asked, “How have you improved relations with the USA when you recently expressed in parliament that you are not satisfied with the level of support that the USA has shown? Is that how you improve relations? Even you’re dissatisfied.”
