“Turkish and Azeri radio stations can be reached by Armenians who live in bordering towns. How can we block those stations and make Armenian radio stations available for our citizens?” My Step deputy and former Deputy Minister of Education and Science Hovhannes Hovhannisyan asked Chair of the Commission on TV and Radio Tigran Hakobyan in parliament. Tigran Hakobyan responded that the commission does not have the authority to block foreign language stations, but they do frequently receive complaints about it.
“Citizens often complain that they can listen to Azeri, Turkish, and Iranian radio stations. The same goes for television channels. I met with the governor of the Tavush region in order to find a solution to this problem. There needs to be a law that allows for every region to have its own radio and television station. There are none in Tavush, for example,” Tigran Hakobyan said.
