Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Zohrab Mnatsakanyan does not understand the meaning behind Turkey’s denial of the Armenian Genocide over 100 years after the fact. According to the minister, Turkey’s biggest problem is that its leaders are not willing to face their history. The minister also believes that this issue Turkey faces is a message for Armenians that our people overcame the genocide.
Reporters also asked about whether Zohrab Mnatsakanyan believed that Yerevan and Ankara could reconcile after the failed football diplomacy. Zohrab Mnatsakanyan said, “Unfortunately, news coming from Ankara is not encouraging. He also said that Armenia has never made it a condition for Turkey to recognize the Armenian Genocide in order to improve Armenian-Turkish relations.
