“I am convinced that Turkish society is maturing and that our generation will bear witness to Turkey recognizing the Armenian Genocide,” Republican Party Executive Body member Davit Harutyunyan told reporters during a briefing when he accompanied Serzh Sargsyan and other RPA members to pay respects at the Tsitsernakaberd Genocide Memorial.
When asked about what possibilities there are for Armenian-Turkish relations to improve since Erdogan continues with denial policies and since Armenian-Turkish protocols have been recalled, Harutyunyan responded, “I will repeat myself once again: there are patterns which Erdogan cannot regulate. History and the development of societies regulates those patterns. Therefore, Erdogan’s denial will have the opposite effect.”
