‘I don’t know what, but there will be a demarche’: Yerevan to respond to Baku

May 18,2019 00:12

During the recent session of the National Assembly’s Foreign Relations Committee, Prosperous Armenia deputy Arman Abovyan asked Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Grigor Hovhannisyan about whether or not the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs will respond to Baku.

The finale of the European League will take place on May 29th in Baku. Arsenal’s midfielder, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who is Armenian, has unrestricted entry into Azerbaijan. Armenian athletes have had issues in the past with regard to participating in international competitions in Azerbaijan.

Arman Abovyan read in the British press that Baku has prohibited Armenian fans from visiting the country for the match. “It’s clear that this is a fascist move, but will the Ministry of Foreign Affairs respond?” the deputy asked.

The deputy minister replied that they had discussed what demarche there will be with the football federation. “I don’t know what, but there will be a demarche,” he said.
