The prize was a trophy, certificates, and a phone. Then, the winner is supposed to go to China to participate in the finale, which representatives from several different countries will also be participating in,” Meri said.

She informed that she is currently in her second year of studies at the Yerevan State Basic Medical College. She is fluent in Chinese and she began to learn the language at 13. Her sister is a Chinese translator. Her sister was the one who advised her to begin studying Chinese.

“Chinese is a very useful language just like English. It is also used worldwide. In the beginning it was a bit difficult because my teacher was Chinese, but then I gradually was able to overcome those difficulties,” Meri said.

She also said that there were four winners in Armenia’s Chinese Bridge competition. There were first and second place, as well as places for best cultural and best rhetorical speeches. One more person was given an honorable mention award.
