“Political sentences and sentences ordered by presidents have taken place in Armenia for many years. The cases in the ECHR are proof,” Prosperous Armenia deputy Naira Zohrabyan said during hearings on transitional justice in parliament.
As far as how changes in the judicial system need to take place, Zohrabyan emphasized, “There is intolerance towards differing opinions currently. Calls for guillotines and political vendettas are everywhere. How can we change the judicial system in this environment? Prosperous Armenia’s approach is that changes need to take place within legal limits only.”
