“Azeri society does not interest me at all in this case. I don’t know what you want to hear. The purpose of this campaign is to show that this conflict needs to be resolved peacefully, and that we as mothers and wives need to call upon those sitting at the negotiations table to remember this, regardless of our nationality,” the Armenian Prime Minister’s wife Anna Hakobyan said during a press conference at the Komitas Museum and Institute when answering the question about if she’s worried about how calls for peace are frequently considered weak by the Azeri media.
Anna Hakobyan noted that she has not seen anything in the Azeri media that states that her calls for peace are a sign of weakness. “Just the opposite. But everyone can comment as they wish. That does not worry me because most people understand the meaning of my campaign correctly. It is especially prioritized and welcomed outside of Armenia.”
When asked if there were any provocations other than being asked a question by an Azeri deputy, Anna Hakobyan said that she did not consider that question to be a provocation and added, “It would not have been normal for the wife of the Prime Minister of Armenia to be present and for an Azeri journalist to not ask questions. There was no provocation. It was a normal question that needed an answer. In the end, Azeri society also has the right to wonder about what we think, just as we would like to know what they think in Azerbaijan.”
