Robert Kocharyan appeared in public for the first time after his deterrence method was changed. He met with his supporters and activists at the Congress hotel.
“My dear supporters and compatriots, 10 years ago, I believed that the main events of my life were in the past, and I was then able to live a predictable and relaxed life. I was wrong. I also believed that my life experiences, both possible and impossible, were in the past. I was also wrong. You know, prison takes away your freedom, but only your physical freedom. No prison can limit or take away the freedom of your thoughts and of your will. Just the opposite: it gives you the opportunity to move forward and to fight. And I am happy to see that I am not alone in this fight. There is an active and interesting team which I will be moving forward with. We will enjoy new victories together. I want to thank all of you for your support. To be honest, I did not think that there was this much left to do one year ago. I wish all of you good health and free will. And we will be fighting alongside one another. I am happy to be able to say this on such an important day, on First Republic Day. By the way, it happened somewhat randomly that this meeting took place today, but it has its own important meaning. Thank you all, thank you.”
